Origins of The Wandering Ox
As a young teenager, Lee came across a book on herbs that had ‘medicinal uses’. He used it to make infusions of typical garden herbs to help with common ailments.
It was only much later that he completed training in acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine that the seed of Wandering Ox Herbs was planted.
Alongside treating patients with acupuncture and prescribing herbal formulas, more and more bespoke creams, balms and liniments were developed to support patients with problem skin and to help speed healing from injury.
After a year of experimenting with various formulations, a handful of products were finalised and so Wandering Ox Herbs was created, providing natural, hand-made products based on the wisdom of Chinese Herbal Medicine.
Everything by hand
Aside from hand making the products themselves, Lee found an excuse to write the calligraphy for the logo and, using traditional methods, carve the ‘chop’ from stone (the traditional Chinese method of printing a unique ‘signature’ that you’ll find on the product packaging). In this way, attention and intention become part of the process of integrating the raw ingredients into a product and under the auspices of the peaceful, Wandering Ox, bringing them to the people!
